X Ottawa Photography Festival is proud to host the launch of Slideluck Potshow Ottawa as part of the X Out of Bound event series 2009.

Slideluck Potshow is a New York City-based, non-profit arts organization that provides an opportunity for artists and appreciators of art to gather around food, friends, and artwork for an unforgettable night.  This event, which began in a Seattle backyard eight years ago and regularly draws huge crowds around the world, is coming to Ottawa on Saturday, October 17th.

Please join us for the very first edition of SLPS Ottawa! It will be an amazing evening with a fantastic multimedia slideshow and potluck dinner. The event is free but you have to participate either by showcasing your artistic talents in your submitted photos or your culinary skills by bringing your favourite dish to be enjoyed by all!

We will be featuring a slideshow showcasing the work of emerging and established Ottawa area artists, as well as work by international artists.  Photojournalists, painters, sculptors, comedians, fashion and fine-art photographers all present work alongside one another in a relaxed and spirited atmosphere.  Past participants include:  The Guggenheim Foundation, Edward Burtynsky, Elliott Erwitt, Martin Parr, and Spencer Tunick.

The theme for this event is inclusion/exclusion and the role it plays in the practice of contemporary photography. Keep in mind that there is both a themed, and an open-themed component of this show.
