THEME
The theme for the 2010 edition of the festival is
IN/OUT: CONTEMPORARY PHOTOGRAPHY AND THE POLITICS OF DIFFERENCE
X invites all local art exhibitors and curators to consider and respond to the theme of inclusion and exclusion and the role it plays in the practice of contemporary photography, by presenting bodies of work that critically explore related topics such as relationships, diversity, justice/injustice, sex, gender, class and ethnicity.
X is proud to announce that Melissa Rombout, an Ottawa-based curator, writer and educator specializing in contemporary and historical photographic practices, will consider the works on view at participating venues and make critical linkages to the central theme of inclusion/exclusion. She will lead a live/podcast discussion during the Festival addressing the dynamic themes presented by participating image makers, and will prepare an illustrated, bilingual online publication.
